Observing glaciers, the crystals of time created by repeated snowfalls, freezes, and snow piles up again, made me realize that whether it be now or a billion years ago, natural phenomenons have undergone continuous repetition. The fact that small occurrences like falling snowflakes and running water could leave such massive glaciers was vitally interesting. Using aluminum oxide and glaze, I wanted to express a naturally occurring structure like that of the glaciers. Through this work, I want to convey a moment of pause for the audience, to think about how life’s small and seemingly insignificant events can eventually expand to gargantuan proportions through the passage of time.
