Medium: Glaze
H130mm W250mm D170mm

The works in the Gyeol (결) series manifest a multifaceted Korean concept encompassing texture, direction, form, and time. Reimagining glaze from a mere surface treatment to a primary sculptural medium, these pieces are born from high-fired glaze fragments that reveal inherent tensions and irregularities.

Each element is cultivated through multiple, intense firings (up to 1300°C), a process embracing unpredictability where textures, patterns, and controlled cracks emerge as intrinsic evidence of material transformation. These distinct glaze fragments are then meticulously assembled and refired at lower temperatures, allowing glazes to accumulate, flow, and subtly fuse into larger, organically emerging structures. The resulting layered textures and inherent "imperfections" serve as profound visual records of time's passage and material evolution, inviting viewers to reflect on resilience, memory, and the quiet narratives embedded within the material itself.
